I have a decent amount of ice cream photos on my Instagram and I’m going to try something new where instead of posting a photo, I’m going to embed some old Instagram photos since I just learned how to last week and write a short blurb about each one! I’m pretty boring and safe when it comes to ice cream flavours and you’ll find out the reason why in my last photo.
This ice cream below is from 720 Sweets, they’re known for presenting their soft serve in cool ways like with liquid nitrogen smoke. This particular soft serve is called the S’mores Please, and it features a toasted homemade marshmallow from Archimallows (from Vancouver!).
Earnest Ice Cream is one of the really popular places to head to for some ice cream in Vancouver. I went here for the first time recently and I can tell why everyone loves it! They have daily flavours and on the day I visited we got Vegan Cookies & Cream and Strawberry Balsamic. They have really cool flavours (but I’m boring so I stick to what I know) that I will try one day!
Another photo from my trip to Disney, was this Peaches and Cream Ice Cream Macaron Sandwich. Fruity ice cream and macarons are a great combo in my opinion. (Can this place sponsor me by naming a guacamole ice cream macaron sandwich after Guacarons?) I did research about places to eat in Disney before I went, because I have nothing better to do with my time and my life sadly revolves around food. L’Artisan des Glaces is an Artisan Ice Cream and Sorbet shop located in the France pavilion of Epcot in Disney World. This was the greatest and only macaron ice cream sandwich I’ve ever had.
A must have when you go to Disney World is this pineapple soft serve called Dole Whip, at Aloha Isle. I was actually pretty surprised with how generous they are with the serving and how perfect it looks. This place also does Dole Whip Floats, but instead of pop, it’s served with pineapple juice! This was the most refreshing part of the long day in the sun.
One of my favourite flavours is Matcha and at the Richmond Night Market last year, they had a food stand that served Thai-Style Ice Cream Rolls! As an avid food photographer, I’m always up for cool and unique ice cream presentations. They made the ice cream by pouring liquid onto a frozen metal surface and they formed the rolls using these metal spatula scraper type things. Not only were the rolls an interesting texture to bite into, it also had a lot of toppings included like chocolate chips, fruity popping pearls, oreos and whip cream!
One of the coolest ice cream (it’s gelato, but that counts too right?) places in Vancouver is La Casa Gelato. They have 518 different flavours and 218 of them are on location everyday! Just seeing that number sounds really impressive! Since they make so many different flavours, it’s expected that some of them are weird. Some of the interesting flavours include wasabi, curry, garlic and gorgonzola cheese, but those are just a few! The weird flavours are mostly there for people to get a small spoon to taste. I’ve been here twice and the first time I came I regretted not trying a weird flavour because I felt like I missed out. However, the second time I came here I decided to try something new so I went for the Chocolate Chili. This was a big mistake. Once I put the small tasting sample into my mouth, it instantly burned. The ice cream didn’t even feel like it was cold because of the heat of the chili. It was a nightmare and a lesson learned to never try weird things. They gave me such a huge sample that I had to awkwardly and secretly throw away the rest of it because I couldn’t handle to finish it.
