As a student, I feel that there are many ways that we have to portray ourselves on the internet depending on the certain medium being used. The things I would post on Facebook wouldn’t necessarily be things I would post on Twitter or Instagram. The same applies to things I predict I will be posting here (my personal cyberinfrastructure) compared to what I would post on my portfolio (my professional cyberinfrastructure) that I would show future employers. There is a need for perfection and showing the best of yourself in your portfolio in order to impress people and I feel that there is a sense of inauthenticity from the mask you put over yourself so that you may seem polished and professional. I find that concept interesting though; an employer would be the one that expects to find out who you are as a person to see if they want to hire you or not. However, since you want them to hire you, you present yourself in the best way possible which might not actually be who you are. From that, the way that people perceive your posts would be different. For a personal cyberinfrastructure, I feel that it is much easier to be more personable because of the context and purpose of the website and the tone, style and topic of your writing would come into play as well.
